Well, back to English!

Well, after starting my blog and much thought, I had decided to turn it into a Japanese base blog.  Shortly after that, I was invited to join the big networking/blogging site called "Mixi" which has over 100,000 users registered.  Now I'm officially hooked.  Since this is strictly in Japanese and it will be redundant to have my blog also in Japanese, I've decided to revert back to English.

Life is wonderful.  Just to give you an idea of what goes on in Mixi, it is similar to Facebook, but way WAY bigger.  Most people use usernames and don't put real names and photos.  But as most Japanese things run, people are very very polite.  Most communities range widely from crazy and plenty of good interesting stuff.  Even though I can see Mixi's blog replacing my Japanese one here, I cannot see Facebook replacing this.

Stuff I'm hooked on in Mixi
  1. I found my classmates!  Better than このゆびとまれ (kono yubi tomare: classmate database site) by far.  The encounters had been quite pleasant.  I had thought it impossible to ever attend a class reunion, so hadn't even bothered to keep in contact with my classmates, but this give me great hope.
  2. I found a community of people that are mixed with Latinos!  Man, if I had such network when I was growing up, things would've been way WAY different.  Mind you, I do realize there's no point in thinking what would've been, and I know it.  But I'm ever grateful to have these people that understand first hand what it is to be half-Japanese and not be able to speak English right off the bat!  (Most Japanese consider "gaijin" to be of English speaking.)
  3. I found a rich Christian communities.  Wow.  I know if and when we shall go back for a visit, we won't wonder where to go to worship!  YAY!
  4. There's a community for virtually anything.  I've joined "I like Nora Jones," "UNESCO children's camp," "I'm still a big fan of '80s music!"  and "Sailors and sailors wanna-bes."  You think it and there is.  If not, one can start their very own.
I've been invited to the Facebook now, and I'm quite curious how it is all going to work out.  But I can say this: Mixi is helping me regain sense of being a Japanese. (in a healthy sense, mind you.)  Before it was something that had to be of utmost importance, but now that I have a main identity as His child and had let go of wanting to be recognized as a "Japanese" interestingly, the Lord returns me something that I wanted.  Sort of like my straight hair.  It was an obsession while in highschool and college, but now that it isn't that important anymore I get to have it!  Wow.  We serve a very generous God.
